This International Standard specifies requirements for unshelled pine nuts, obtained from the cones of the stone pine tree (Pinus pinea Linnaeus), for human consumption. It applies to unshelled pine nuts obtained from cones which have been dried in the sun, or in special ovens. It is not applicable to roasted, salted or any other type of processed pine nuts, or to pine nuts obtained by burning of the cones.
